Education opens up the mental and spiritual faculties of human beings and aids in forming positive attitudes for the holistic and healthy growth of human society. It serves as a firm foundation for the development and growth of human beings. The Sikh Gurus were the ardent proponents of women education and always emphasized the nobility and lofty status of women in guiding human destinies for the positive outcomes.
The managing committee of Janta Group of Institutions strongly felt the need of dissemination of women education in this rural part of the district of Yamuna Nagar. The conservative character of the rural people was a major hindrance in sending girls to Yamuna Nagar for higher studies. It resulted in wastages of women talent and energy as they were simply confined to their homes after passing the senior secondary examination. “Full many a gems of the purest ray serene” were totally wasted and made useless. The management of the society was reminded of the contributions of Sant Prem Singh Ji, who advocated a spiritual and intellectual growth of men & women alike in every field of life, therefore to perpetuate his memory, GBS Education society efforts which resulted in setting up SPS Janta College in 2007, catering to the needs of the rural girls since 2007 facilitating them to pursue the bachelor degrees in Arts, Science and Commerce.
SPS Janta College is being run under aegis of GBS education society, found in memory of late Giani Balwant Singh Ji fouder of Janta Group of Institutions. Ours is a Sikh Minority institution since GBS education society by the state government under article 30 (1) of the constitution of India.
